thing in the gym with no pain. I onl

NAIROBI, Kenya -- They were used to running barefoot on baking ground. They were raw, untrained. All eager. Each day, the five runners who grew up in the Kakuma refugee camp pounded the dusty tracks past thousands of makeshift tents to pass the time.Until there was a lifeline.Workers from the foundation of former marathon world-record holder Tegla Loroupe arrived to hold athletic trials, and the five excelled. For this group of runners, many with no family and all with little schooling, running could offer food, a solid house. Proper shoes. When I started the project, I said `What can I do with these people? coach Volker Wagner said. What he didnt have to worry about was their eagerness to run.The five runners are refugees, five of 65 million across the world who have been displaced from their homes. Now, theyre also track athletes, and theyre going to the Olympics. The runners, all from South Sudan, are part of the IOCs first 10-member refugee team. Its a team of athletes whose roads to Rio de Janeiro have surely been harder, but whose journeys might ultimately be more heartwarming, than any of the other 10,000-plus athletes who will compete at the globes biggest sports event. When we go to Rio we are going to give a message that a refugee can do anything any other human being can do, said Yiech Pur Biel, a 21-year-old 800-meter runner who now trains with the group at a base in the foothills just outside of the Kenyan capital of Nairobi. The refugee team is made up of sportsmen and women who have talent and drive, and the same dreams of competing on the worlds largest stage as athletes from all over the globe. But they have no way of representing their countries, countries they were forced to flee. So theyve been given a flag, the Olympic flag, to march behind at the opening ceremony in Rio and to compete under at the games. They have stories of unfathomable hardship.Yiech was a 9-year-old boy caught up in the Sudanese civil war in 2005 when his mother -- with no food and no other hope -- left him with a neighbor and went in search of something to eat for her family. She didnt come back. Yiech was sent, alone, to the vast Kakuma refugee camp in northern Kenya.James Nyang Chiengjiek wasnt much older, a child who herded cattle, when soldiers tried to kidnap him and force him to go to war. He ran away and also ended up at Kakuma, a camp teeming at one time with nearly 200,000 people, all homeless, many of them hopeless.Scrambling to hide when her village was attacked by a rival tribe, Rose Nathike Lokonyen came across the dead bodies of her grandparents. She was 7.Paulo Amotun Kokoros childhood memories are of running, but not for fun or for sport. He ran for his life as bullets whizzed past his head.Anjelina Nadai Lohalith was separated from her parents as a child more than a decade ago. The 21-year-old hasnt heard from them since, and can only hope that the news passed on to her that they are still alive is true. What I want to be is a champion, said Nadai Lohalith, whose event is the 1,500 meters. One day, one time. She hopes for a successful Olympics but, more than that, a reunion with the parents she hasnt seen in more than 10 years. The rest of the team is made up of two swimmers from war-torn Syria who, separately, made the treacherous voyage across the Aegean Sea on flimsy inflatable boats to reach Europe. They then trekked from country to country seeking shelter. There are two judokas from Congo, rescued from war as children only to be abused, starved and locked in cages by their handlers as they pursued a sport they loved. And a marathon runner who left Ethiopia in fear for his life, who now drives a taxi in Luxembourg to make ends meet, trains alone, and still wins races.Make no mistake their places at the Olympics have been earned: All 10 have met qualifying criteria. Its still a steep curve, especially for the South Sudanese. They have only been in formal training for a few years at the most, some of them just months. But after the hardships they endured early in life, this challenge isnt that scary. If I compare the training or the duration of training with other people I am going to compete with, (it) is not the same. But, I do not fear that, Nadai Lohalith said.Theyve come a long way, but Wagner said if any of them get through the qualifying heats at the Olympics, itll be huge. But thats not the point. It was never the point. When you give these people hope, coach Wagner said, that made this project successful. They look forward to being at the Olympic village in Rio and meeting other athletes. They look forward to having their own uniforms and running shoes. They look forward to being part of a team. Most of all, they look forward.---Follow the story of the refugee athletes at the Rio Games at www.summergames.ap.orgCheap College Jerseys Free Shipping . Virat Kohli bailed India out of trouble in the first Test against England with an unbeaten 49 to guide his side to a narrow draw. He continued his good run by thumping an unbeaten 241-ball 151, which saw the hosts post a sizable 317 for 4 on the first day of the second Test which began in Visakhaptnam on Thursday.Kohli won a crucial toss and chose to bat first on a pitch that would aid spinners later in the Test. His opposite number, Alastair Cook, cut an almost condemned figure at the toss as he contemplated batting last on the surface.Englands seamers, Stuart Broad, and James Anderson - making his comeback after injury - gave their side just the start they needed as they dismissed Indias openers, Murali Vijay and KL Rahul, in the first five overs of the Test. They had hoped to induce an error from the two new batsmen, but they were wrong as Pujara and Kohli dropped anchor and began rebuilding the innings.Kohli, playing in his 50th Test, was cautious in the first session and added just 35 runs from 61 balls he faced before lunch. In the post-lunch session, boundaries started to flow more freely for Kohli. He made his intentions clear from the start of the session and smacked the first ball from Anderson to the fence.England did have their chance to dismiss him in the 43rd over. But Adil Rashid failed to hold on to a mistimed hook. Kohli maintained his tempo and ended that over with another four. He had raced to 61 from 103 balls at that stage, as the players took drinks. As the day wore on, the Kohli-Pujara combine looked most comfortable against Englands spinners. They thumped Moeen Ali for three fours in the 52nd over of the day, with Kohli hitting the first two. As the duo approached their hundreds, Pujara turned aggressor and raced ahead. He clubbed a short ball from Rashid in the 60th over for a six to register his third consecutive ton in Tests.Kohli got his 14th Test ton in a more sedate fashion as he pushed an Anderson delivery in the 63rd over for two. India lost Pujara, for 119, and Ajinkya Rahane before the end of play. Kohli remained unbeaten on 151 and will look to capitalize on Friday. We wanted to build a partnership. We wanted to bat through the session, Pujara said. The way we started we were rotating the strike. He was timing the ball well, and I was confident after the 100. There was some misunderstanding in the first session. We spoke about that in lunch. If you see it was better second session onwards. This one is slower than Rajkot. I see more rough on both sides of the pitch. There might be a little more help for offspinners as the game progresses. Hopefully there will be more cracks on it by the end of the second day. We would like to put up a big score, and hopefully we dont need to bat again.Wholesale Nike Air Max 1 . getown built a 10-0 lead

CLEVELAND -- Another win in the books, Tom Brady jogged off the field as hes done so many times before. As the Patriots fans who invaded Cleveland cheered and chanted his name, Brady waved and smiled before heading into the locker room and celebrating with his teammates. His eyes only focused forward, he savored every second. He missed this.Im back doing what I love to do, he said.Looking razor-sharp at times and relatively rust-free after serving his four-game Deflategate suspension, Brady passed for 406 yards and threw three touchdowns to Martellus Bennett in his hyped return as the Patriots thumped the Cleveland Browns 33-13 on Sunday.New Englands star quarterback was back -- much to the relief of teammates and Patriots fans everywhere -- following a ban for his role in the scandal in which an NFL investigation found that the four-time Super Bowl champion Patriots under-inflated footballs in the 2015 AFC championship game.Brady fought Commissioner Roger Goodells ruling for more than a year before he begrudgingly accepted his punishment. And while it appeared he took out some frustration on the Browns (0-5), Brady insisted hes not seeking revenge. This isnt a time for me to reflect, he said. Theres no point at looking back at anything. Whether we won Super Bowls or lost championship games or the last four weeks, none of it matters.Ive just moved on, man.Brady passed for 271 yards in the first half as the Patriots (4-1) rebounded from a stinging shutout last week at home to Buffalo.Brady threw two short TD passes in the first half to Bennett before hooking up with his new teammate on a 37-yarder to give the Patriots a 30-7 lead in the third. He thoroughly enjoyed his return, even posing like Olympic track star Usain Bolt after a 4-yard run to signal for a first down.I dont run much, and when I do I get excited, he said, smiling.Coach Bill Belichick replaced Brady with 6:02 left, greeting him on the sideline with a handshake and pat on the back. The 39-year-old was far from perfect, overthrowing Julian Edelman for a possible long TD, but Brady spread the ball around and showed a nice touch on a few passes, including a floater to Rob Gronkowski for 37 yards in the fourth. We hadnt seen him in a while, said Edelman, Bradys teammate for eight seasons who was not surprised by the performance. You train with a guy. You go to camp with a guy. Youve played a number of years with a guy. To see what hes gone through, youre going to get excited.Following the game, Brady basked in the adulation from the Patriots fans ringing the entrance to the tunnel, Following his news conference, Brady stylish as always in a blue tailored suit, posed for a few photos with fans before he was greeted by friends, including former Browns tight end Aaron Shea, who threw his arms around his Michigan teammate.LeGarrette Blount added a 1-yard score for the Patriots, who all drew inspiration from Bradys return. We were all intense today, all amped up, said Gronkowski, who had five catches for 109 yards. Tom always brings the ampness to the table.Unfortunately for the Browns, a rebuilding season is spiraling out of control.Cleveland has dropped seven straight and 14 of 15, and Browns coach Hue Jackson is running out of quarterbacks after rookie Cody Kessler was knocked out in the first half with rib and chest injuries. Charlie Whitehurst replaced him, becoming the fifth quarterback to play for Cleveland in five games. When Brady ran onto the field for New Englands first play, thousands of fans, many wearing his No. 12 jersey, cheered. At that moment, all was right again from Cambridge to Maines coastline.Brady completed his first pass to his favorite target, Edelman, and connected twice on New Englands opening drive with Gronkowski, who sidestepped a couple of tacklers and looked like the indomitable Gronk while bulling his way to the Cleveland 1.It was a new beginning, a fresh start for Brady, who found comfort after so many months of angst. It was fun to come out and play and fun to win, he said. Thats the most important thing.BROKEN BROWNSKessler took a hard shot from Patriots linebacker Donta Hightower while trying to throw a swing pass to Duke Johnson at the Cleveland 10.The pass was behind Johnson and skipped out of the end zone, giving the Patriots a safety. Jackson said Kessler did not break anything and his status will be addressed in the next few days.Charlie Whitehurst played the second half, but sustained a knee injury in the final minutes.JONES JETTISONEDPatriots rookie cornerback Cyrus Jones was ejected in the third quarter for unsportsmanlike conduct.A second-round pick from Alabama, Jones got tangled with Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins on the opposite side of the field. After the game, referee Bill Vinovich said Jones was ejected because it was deemed that he threw a punch.GROUNDED GAMEThe Patriots held the NFLs top rushing team to 27 yards on 22 carries. Cleveland came in leading the NFL with 149.3 yards rushing.Isaiah Crowell picked up just 22 on 13 attempts, a far cry from 6.4-yard average in Clevelands first four games.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFLNike Air Max Outlet . Davidson cut into the deficit, striking from long distance on Stockton McGuires 56-yard touchdown paass to Jaris Scott, with 4:15 left in the half.ddddddddddddhe Hoyas then went on a quick drive -- with Valles 53-yard rush eating up much of the field -- and made it 17-7 at intermission on Barnes 2-yard toss to Justin Harrell. In the third, Barnes hooked up with Brand Williams from 33 yards, and Hill again from the 5, and the Hoyas cruised from there. nceton, and Seton Hall in the two-day tournament

Baseballs PED-Day is set to launch. The question now is whether this will stop the drug cheats once and for all. To Logan Morrison, the suspensions and shame and loss in salary might not be enough. To really deter them, the Miami Marlins first baseman suggests clubs pay a price, too. "Maybe penalizing the teams for guys who signed -- like Melky signing that $16 million deal -- maybe the team should have to give up something," Morrison said. Which would be fine with Dodgers second baseman Mark Ellis. "Were sick of it. Tired of it," he said. "We dont want the fans thinking everybody cheats. You listen to people talk and they associate baseball with cheating." "The teams maybe should look at some things. Not sign guys who are caught. That would be a good thing. Start taking guys money away," Ellis said. Major League Baseball was poised to levy significant drug suspensions Monday, with three-time MVP Alex Rodriguez and All-Stars Nelson Cruz and Jhonny Peralta facing the stiffest penalties in the Biogenesis case. Overall, 14 players were facing discipline. MLB has informed the Yankees that A-Rod will be suspended but can play while he appeals, a person familiar with the talks told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Sunday because no announcement was authorized. Melky Cabrera, Bartolo Colon and Yasmani Grandal served suspensions after positive tests last year. Theyve been tied to this performance-enhancing drug case, but cant be disciplined again for the same offence. Cabrera, the MVP of last years All-Star game, finished his 50-game suspension in October. Released by the champion San Francisco Giants after the season, the outfielder signed a $16 million, two-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. Will the upcoming penalties serve as a deterrent? Hall of Famer Joe Morgan will wait and see. "It depends on what the punishments are. The thing with me is always the risk versus the reward," he said. "What is the reward? Getting a $150 million contract. What is the risk? A 30-day suspension, a 60-day suspension? The risk doesnt outweigh the reward." "Until that happens, its not going to change," he said. "Its very simple: The risk has to outweigh the reward." And that might mean something more drastic. Say, the risk of players immediately losing their rich deals if theyre caught. "I know theyre talking about" terminating contracts, St. Louis pitcher Adam Wainwright said. "But I dont know if you want to go down that road. Once you start, where do you stop?" Itd be a start, Padres outfielder Will Venable said. "My personal opinion is that the penalties need to get back to the contracts," he said. "I believe that if you cross over and decide that you are going to use the banned substance, you also should forfeit the support of the players association." "They are not worthy of the support of the players association. I think the combination of that and somehow having to forfeit or void your contract that youre under is something that needs to be the main focus of the penalties," he said. For Mark McGwire, the taint of scandal cost him a chance at the Hall of Fame. For Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens, the drug cloud landed them in federal court. Rafael Palmeiro, with more than 500 home runs and 3,000 hits, became an outcast after a positive drug test. Manny Ramirez drew a suspension that ran him out of the majors, Steve Howe was banned seven times. In the 1980s, several players had reputations tarnished during the Pittsburgh cocaine trials, before that a few even went to prison. Now, former MVP Ryan Braun is serving a 65-game ban and more big penalties are looming. "Theres a thought that maybe the punishment isnt steep enough because the guys are still doing stuff," Seattle shortstop Brendan Ryan said. "Is there a punishment thats too stiff? I dont know. It should scare anyone from doing it." A tough task, Yankees player representative Curtis Granderson said. "I think as long as the ability to improve and the amount of money and fame and accolades are there, therell always be someone trying to do it," the star outfielder said during a media session at Petco Park in San Diego. "I mean, if you go back to all of us here standing here, Im sure one of us at some point in time has cheated off of a test, finagled a resume, entrance exams to a school. And then you see in all the different other sports and stuff, the way people have been doing stuff from these Olympics to these sports to this game." Granderson added: "Theres always a way to try to get yourself better, especially when theres a monetary value involved. Whether that be getting a scholarship, getting a job, getting a career in baseball. I think always someones going to be trying to do it." Hall of Famer Tony Perez, who works with the Marlins, understands the lure. "You can make a lot of money. The temptation is hard to refuse," he said. "Im not angry at them. They made a mistake. I dont know if I was in their shoes, I might have done it because of the money." Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein said baseball needed "to make the players aware of whats acceptable and whats not, that there are consequences for bad decisions." And Dodgers pitching coach Rick Honeycutt said the commissioners office "kind of set the precedent with Braun." Still, Cleveland manager Terry Francona said, "were paying a price for 15 or 20 years ago burying our heads in the sand. Its not really fair to anybody." Not like the old days, Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax recalled. "Theres talk that with 50 games and the millions players make, it might not be enough. Im not saying that, theres just talk," he said. "Back then we had suspensions, but nothing like this with drugs." Fellow Hall of Famer Robin Yount said he hoped the Biogenesis case "will put an end to this, once and for all." "Its just not necessary any more. With the drug testing in place -- again Im no expert on it -- but I would certainly like to believe that its a good enough program that you cant get away with it," he said. "There was a day where there was an argument where you had to do it prior to drug testing, to keep up. Id like to believe those days are gone." Angels player rep C.J. Wilson stressed that players taking PEDs affect more than themselves. "The home runs that are hit because a guys on performance-enhancing substances, those ruin somebodys ERA, which runs their arbitration case, which ruins their salary," the pitcher said. "So its a whole domino effect of things that can happen. If you think about it, the impact a performance-enhancing drug had on a guy who goes out and wins the All-Star game for his league, and then his team happens to get home-field advantage in the World Series and happens to win the World Series -- I mean, theres a consequence to every action," he said. Even so, major league home run leader Chris Davis isnt sure this case will serve as a deterrent. "Guys have obviously been suspended in the past and it hasnt stopped everybody," the Baltimore slugger said. "Its a black eye for baseball. As hard as our testing is, as sophisticated as it is, why would you even try? But I guess there are people out there doing it." Boston first baseman Mike Napoli said hes glad this latest drug episode seemingly is coming to a close. "We want it to just be cleaned up and be over with," he said. "People look at baseball and theyve got to see Biogenesis stuff on TV all the time." "It kind of stinks," he said. "They talk about it five hours during the day -- Biogenesis this, that." And probably more drug cases in the future, Mets pitcher LaTroy Hawkins predicted. "There is always going to be somebody that pushes the envelope. You know if you rob a bank and you get caught youre going to go to prison, right? Does that stop people from robbing banks? No." "Its life. Its what happens. Its the world, its society," he added. "Everybody is trying to get ahead. Im not condoning it, but thats just the way it is."Cheap Jerseys Cyber Mondy . And, of course, a daily dose of doping news that was more than offset by a speedy cameo from Usain Bolt.Bolt was on the track early for his 200-meter qualifying heat -- a no-fuss 20.28-second ramble around the curve that barely raised his blood pressure.Im not an early-morning person, Bolt proclaimed, shortly after winning his heat, which actually started at the crack of 12:46 p.m.But morning seemed like the perfect time for American Will Claye to put an exclamation point on one of his greatest moments. Simpson took bronze to become the first American woman to medal in the event.Hopefully, every American watching my race tonight, I want them to think they can take a small piece of ownership in this medal, Simpson said.Other gold medalists were high jumper Derek Drouin of Canada and discus thrower Sandra Perkovic of Croatia, who twice was a single throw from elimination but came through both times and defended her Olympic title.Yet, like many of the best moments on this emotion-packed day, there were no medals on the line when long jumper Darya Klishina finally showed up at the Olympics. During warmups, Klishina unzipped her jacket and revealed a red shirt with the word Russia emblazoned in bright white lettering. Shes the only competitor wearing that unifoorm at this stadium, due to a doping scandal that led to the ban of Russias other 67 track and field entrants.ddddddddddddNever introduced by the PA announcer or acknowledged in any way -- booing or cheering -- by the crowd, Klishina jumped 6.64 meters to make it through qualifying and will have a chance for a medal Wednesday.Last week, it was a really tough and really hard week for me mentally . I was waiting for the decision and I could not practice, I just did warmup, she said. I would like to have a big Russian team around me, as usual, but unfortunately Im here alone, and this is a great responsibility. But there was more bad news for the Russians. Around the time the evening session began, the International Olympic Committee stripped the countrys 2008 womens 4x100 relay team of its gold medal, saying one of the sprinters tested positive in one of the many samples being reanalyzed this summer.Back on the field, the sparse morning crowd saw one shocker: Brazilian Fabiana Murer was expected to contend for a pole vault medal, which would have gone nicely with the surprise gold that Thiago Braz da Silva won in the mens competition the night before. But Murer, the silver medalist at the world championships last year, couldnt clear 4.55 meters in her first three attempts and was gone before noon.Da Silvas return to the stadium for the medals ceremony reignited an ugly episode from the previous night. The French runner-up, Renaud Lavillenie, was roundly booed when his name was announced for the silver medal, much the way he heard jeers the night before as he prepared for the jump that decided the meet. The French press attache said Lavillenie was in tears afterward.Still, over the rest of the day, the Olympic spirit was alive and well, and no story told it better than this:Midway through womens 5,000-meter qualifying, American Abbey DAgostino and New Zealander Nikki Hamblin got tangled and fell hard onto the track.Hamblin stayed down, dazed. DAgostino popped back up. But instead of forging ahead, she walked over to Hamblin, put a hand on her shoulder and said, Get up. We have to finish this, then hoisted her to her feet to restart the run.Turned out, DAgostino took the worst of it. She told Hamblin to run ahead, and when Hamblin reached the finish, she waited for her new friend. They exchanged a warm hug before the American got carted off in a wheelchair.Im never going to forget that moment, Hamblin said. When someone asks me what happened in Rio in 20 years time, thats my story.Hours later, race officials sent out a simple alert: The Track Referee, after examining the video of the race, was advancing both women into Fridays final. They offered no explanation. They really didnt have to. ' ' '

LAS VEGAS -- A Nevada judge sentenced former NFL star Darren Sharper on Thursday to as many as eight years in prison for attempted sexual assault in Las Vegas as part of a four-state plea deal that could keep him behind bars for nearly two decades.Sharper was ordered to serve the Nevada sentence concurrently with an 18-year sentence he has already begun on state and federal charges in Louisiana. The former All-Pro defensive back is appealing the conviction and sentence in Louisiana after previously pleading guilty to drug and sexual assault charges. The Nevada charges stemmed from a 2014 incident in Las Vegas where two women said Sharper drugged them after they met him at a nightclub.Civil rights lawyer Gloria Allred spoke in court on behalf of one of the victims before Clark County District Judge Michelle Leavitt sentenced Sharper to 38 to 96 months in prison and ordered him to register as a sex offender in Nevada.Writing this statement brings me to tears even though its been so long, Allred read from the womans statement. I have been fighting for almost three years and to not get the opportunity for my voice to be heard in person makes me sick.Allred said the woman could not attend because she would have had to travel a long way and several continuances made the timing of the sentencing uncertain.During a 14-year NFL career, Sharper played in Super Bowls with the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints. He retired in 2011 and was working as a broadcast NFL analyst when allegations surfaced that he had drugged and raped women.Sharper pleaded guilty or no-contest in state and federal courts to charges that he drugged and sexually assaulted women in Arizona, California, Nevada and Louisiana. The four-state deal was initially expected to send Sharper to prison for about nine years. However, U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo in Louisiana rejected that sentence as too light. Two other men were sentenced earlier this month after pleading guilty in state and federal courts in the Louisiana case, which involved women being assaulted in 2013.Brandon Licciardi, a former Louisiana sheriffs deputy, was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison, and Erik Nunez, a former restaurant worker, was sentenced to 10 years.Cheap Air Max 95 Free Shipping .1 million pounds ($61.2 million) on Saturday, giving the beleaguered English Premier League champions a major lift. Wholesale Air Max 95 China . -- Stanfords Kevin Danser knelt on one knee and hardly moved on the sideline as Michigan State celebrated its Rose Bowl victory and his Cardinal teammates made their way to the locker room. One of the defining images of Indias last home series against England is from the last over of the second day of the Mumbai Test: Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen have forged a solid reply to what had initially seemed a match-winning 327 from India on a pitch that looked likely to turn square. England are 176 for 2, India are looking for a moment of inspiration to leave them feeling good about the next days play. They turn to Harbhajan Singh, who is looking to revive his Test career. He comes in for the last over, draws Cooks edge off a short ball, but what have we got here? Virender Sehwag is upright at slip. The ball hits his boot, his hands are up around his waist. The moment is gone. Cook and Pietersen come back the next day to trample Indias challenge.Four years on, India have still been dropping catches at slip but in the dying moments of sessions they have been switched on.When a new batting pair arrests a collapse in the last half hour, or tired bowlers prise out a set batsman, their team usually grows a leg upon resumption. A lot of Test cricket is about physical and mental endurance, about concentrating when it is easy for the mind to wander, and, this time around, India have met these requirements for longer than their opponents in taking a 2-0 lead. Two prime examples of India outlasting England over a days play were seen on days one and two of the Mohali Test. On day one England had recovered from 92 for 4 at lunch, losing just two wickets over the next three and a half hours. Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes looked at ease going into the last half hour. If England could end the day six down, they would have done enough after winning the toss on a pitch likely to assist spin. India delayed taking the new ball, but rookie offspinner Jayant Yadav produced the inspiration they needed in the 84th over. First, a flat delivery took the outside edge as it ran across Bairstow from around the wicket. The next one drifted and dipped before turning in to trap him lbw. The new ball was duly asked for. Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami, who had bowled 14 and 18 overs until then, bounded in for a final burst. Umesh kept beating Woakes outside edge, but alsoo kept adjusting his line to move it closer to off stump until he pegged back the stump itself.dddddddddddd A probable, respectable 280 for 6 turned into 268 for 8. Of course, Shami struck with his first ball next morning. England finished with 283.By the last hour on the second day, through one lucky break - Cheteshwar Pujaras dismissal to a long hop - some sensational fielding, and disciplined bowling to Virat Kohli, England had willed themselves back into the contest. India had gone from 148 for 2 to 204 for 6; four more wickets for 50-odd runs could have proved disastrous for them, given they had to bat last on a dry surface. R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, though, saw off the threat in that last hour. Jadeja, shepherded along by Ashwin, played his most restrained Test innings. England would have probably given an arm for two more wickets on the day, but they didnt have enough left in them to bowl disconcertingly to the lower order - as Indias quicks would do to theirs in the second innings. Before that, in the Visakhapatnam Test, Jadeja broke through Cooks stubborn 188-ball resistance with something special off what turned out to be the last ball of the fourth day. In Englands second innings in Mohali, Ashwin came back for the last over to dismiss Ben Stokes with an inspired review. That wicket was crucial as England went on to write off the deficit and ask India to chase over 100.Over the first three Tests of the series, not counting a teams natural progression to being bowled out or the wickets lost when pushing for a declaration, India have taken 13 wickets in the last half-hour of sessions to Englands five. In a series in which England have lost 53 wickets to Indias 48, those last half-hours have proved to be the difference. For long India have had the reputation of being a side whose concentration and fitness wavers as sessions and days wear on. Here they have shown the skill, the alertness and the resilience to keep coming back when it can be easy to start thinking of lunch, tea or that massage at the end of the day. ' ' '

ress conference on crutche

Wrestlers Miesha Tate, Cat Zingano and Julianna Pena might be dominating the Octagon these days, but the next generation of MMA hopefuls is nipping at their heels -- even if they dont know it yet.We scoured the rankings and spoke with MMA insider and Invicta FC matchmaker Julie Kedzie about who could follow in the footsteps of these top women fighters, and these are the 5 young fighters we have our eye on.The Next Big (Little) Thing: Alexa Grasso, 22, MMAIf youve never seen Alexa Grasso in the cage, it can be hard to imagine the sweet-faced, soft-spoken girl from Guadalajara, Mexico, dominating in hand-to-hand combat. Then you look at her record (7-0) and watch her clips (the first-round TKO of Alida Gray at Invicta FC 11?is particularly impressive) and the incongruity starts to resolve.Grasso the fighter has a lurch to her step that puts her strawweight opponents on their back foot; its a little unsettling, for a number of reasons. Her flurries are merciless -- Grays TKO came after a particularly brutal ground-and-pound. Dana White himself has called her a badass. And then she gets on the phone, shy, careful about her English, and says: I know theres a lot of fighters who like to talk bad about their opponents and say nasty things, and I want to change that. I want to be the kind of fighter who can show the world and everybody that you dont have to be that kind of person.Initially scared off by the violence of martial arts, Grasso came around with the encouragement of her father. She began her training at age 15 in Muay Thai at her uncles gym. Thats also where she met her best friend, Invicta bantamweight Irene Aldana.A shoulder injury this past fall kept Grasso out of Invicta FC 14 and 15. She was close to fighting Stephanie Eggink in March at Invicta 16 but Grasso broke a finger. The inability to train left her down.Grasso says she didnt even really get a taste for the physical punishment of MMA until about three years ago, when she fought Karina Rodriguez at Xtreme Kombat 20 in Mexico. Grasso won, but she took a beating, ending the fight with a bloodied nose after sustaining kicks and knees to the face. That was a really, really hard fight for me and that was the one where I tested myself, Grasso said. While she makes no secret of the fact that shes gunning for the Invicta title and the UFC, shes aware of how much she still has left to learn. Everybody thinks that Im a veteran and Ive read comments about how I should be better in many ways, she said. But I only have seven fights. Im just a blue belt, and kind of want to say, Hey, Im just out here starting my career!Which is all to say, when she headlines Invicta 18 on July 29 against Jodie Esquibel, shell come in hungry and, as ever, cheerful. The Prodigy: Mizuki Inoue, 21, MMAWhen Japanese strawweight Mizuki Inoue was in fourth grade, she attended her brothers MMA class and was immediately drawn to the sport. Why? Because basically anything goes [in MMA], Mizuki said through a translator.By 16, Inoue, who goes by Mizuki in the cage, was fighting professionally -- and winning -- for a Japanese promotion company called Jewels. Within three years, Invicta FC came calling, and it was then that the teenager realized the industry had taken notice. Since then, I have set my goals to become an Invicta champion, she said. Not that the transition has come without a degree of culture shock. When I first started fighting for Invicta, I was very surprised about how big the stage production was, she said. Everything looked bright and shiny to me, so it was a really good experience. And also when I come to the U.S., the fans are very exciting. Theyre very loud -- it pushes me so much. While shes 11-4 overall as a pro, Mizuki has a split record of 2-2 in Invicta bouts, with decision losses to Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Alexa Grasso. For so young a fighter, however, that may not be such a bad thing. The truth of the matter is, those fights could have gone either way, said Kedzie. Its good to get those fights out of your system and understand they were close. Her last fight with Lacey Schuckman was insanely good. She destroyed her. She was really composed and much more aggressive than shes been.According to manager Shu Hirata, the UFC has already noticed the young phenom and offered her a spot in the strawweight division when it was first created. After discussing it with her trainer, Inoue decided to remain with Invicta to gain more experience -- at least for another year. Shell have her chance on July 29, when she faces off against Lynn Alvarez at Invicta FC 18.And while she does see herself as a champion-to-be at the all-female promotion, shes taking each step as it comes. When you look at my record, theres a lot of fights on my resume, but I still dont feel like a veteran yet, Mizuki said. Im still improving, and Im on my way to the title fight, but I still feel maybe its too early. The Double Threat: Tiffany van Soest, 27, Muay Thai and MMAIf I didnt fight I would surf a lot more, said kickboxer and newly minted MMA fighter Tiffany van Soest from her home in Bali. Theres a lot to do here -- volcanoes, hiking, waterfalls. The Torrance, California, native speaks with an intensity one wouldnt expect from someone living in paradise. Truth is, its hard to imagine shes ever quite still. Van Soest splits her time between Bali, where she trains, teaches muay Thai and volunteers as a martial arts coach at a local orphanage, and California, where she does pre-fight camp. The former Lion Fight super bantamweight and featherweight transitioned to Muay Thai in her teens after spending most of her childhood practicing karate. From then on, she was nearly unstoppable, amassing a 10-1 amateur record and going 15-2-1 as a pro with nine titles by the age of 27. She even squeezed in a little amateur MMA (1-1).But as good as her record was, it was difficult to support herself financially. Its part of the reason she moved to Bali, where the cost of living is lower.I felt good about my accomplishments, van Soest said. As long as Ive been doing it, and for how old I am, I thought I should be making a lot more.Shortly after Invicta FC began courting her, premier kickboxing promotion Glory reached out as well.?Faced with choosing between a new challenge and her longtime passion, she opted for both.Glory is, hands-down, the biggest, most prestigious kickboxing promotion in the world, she says. When they approached me, I felt like I was getting what I really deserved for the work I put in. It made me feel like a true professional athlete.Shes already made her Glory premiere, defeating Emma Hasshass by unanimous decision at Glory 30 in May. Her first pro MMA fight is expected in September. I think her transition [to MMA] is going to be very smooth and go over very well, Kedzie said.Asked about a timeline for making it to UFC, van Soest said: I want to make sure Im ready because those girls are the best in the world. I dont want to get there just to say I got there. When I get there Im going to be the champion, so I want to make sure Im fully ready, that my skills are fully developed to not only compete at that level, but to dominate. The Veteran: Ava Knight, 27, boxerThe Lady of Boxing started her journey to five championship belts as a quiet 13-year-old in Chico, California. Between the ages of 14 and 18, the flyweight racked up 28 amateur wins and only four losses -- impressive considering how few fights women were getting in the early 2000s.Going pro was easier at first; she took newbies and champs alike, often traveling to Mexico to do so. But the 14-2-4 champ learned something along the way that complicated her career trajectory.Beating the good girls, the undefeated girls, winning world championships -- it just started getting harder and harder because now you feel like youre worth something, Knight said. As a woman, nobody was treating me like I had that value. Ive spent the last few years trying to hold my value but still fight. Its hard.Shes turned down a number of low-paying fights and now has her eyes set on a new challenge: MMA, where she says women are valued. She recently caught the eye of UFC and NFL insider Jay Glazer, who invited her to train at his gym once she finishes up touring with Joe Jonas (who shes training, not singing with). Its not that Im done with boxing, she said, I would love to beat up all these prospects that they think are great. But what does that do for me? Im just beating up the girls that are trying to make it in the sport. Where in MMA its this whole new field of girls, but I know I can beat them.Only 27, shes considered a veteran, which may put her at an advantage against young MMA prospects who cant handle the limelight. As Kedzie put it, I like individuals in this sport who can stand on their own two feet and try to push their own boundaries. Someone with that much talent can go extremely far in MMA.The Olympian: Helen Maroulis, 24, wrestlerOkay, so technically we dont know if Helen Maroulis has given much thought to a possible MMA transition. She has a lot on her plate these days, after all -- shes representing the United States at the 2016 Olympics. The 116-pound wrestler has enough national championship medals to cover a wall, including the 2015 World Wrestling Championship title and two World Cup championships. Shes ranked No. 1 on Team USA in her weight category.Like a lot of female MMA fighters, Maroulis grew up fighting boys -- through elementary, middle and high school. Once in college, she took four Womens College Wrestling Association titles and barely missed making qualifying for the 2012 Olympics. She won this years qualifier in Mongolia to book a ticket to Rio.MMA and UFC in particular have a long history of welcoming former wrestlers into its ranks. Theres something about female wrestlers in particular that I think, God you must be so tough, says Kedzie. The sport grinds you up and spits you out.Theres something about how [Maroulis] competes that I just find fascinating, and I want to keep watching her. I think shed make a really good transition to MMA.Heres hoping Maroulis agrees. For now, we wish her the best in Rio.Cheap NHL Jerseys China . Cote was eligible to become a free agent Feb. 15. who went on to win their first conference

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves seemed to be two teams on similar paths; young rosters filled with high draft picks to develop with new coaches. While Minnesotas youth seemed to be further along and the Timberwolves were considered an upstart team to begin the season, Los Angeles has adapted the quickest with its new pieces gelling under coach Luke Walton. The two teams get their first chance at each other Sunday as each will play the second game of back-to-back situations. The Lakers (6-4) showed their growth again on Saturday night in New Orleans, cruising to a 126-99 victory against the Pelicans. Los Angeles has won five of its past six games.I think our guys love competing, Walton said. I think they feel more challenged in the second half to go get it done. Its almost as if when the game starts, you know we have 48 minutes to get it done. Obviously, we dont want that ... but its a process.Under coach Tom Thibodeau, Minnesota has struggled to open the season, especially on the defensive end. The Timberwolves (2-6) lost at home to the league-leading Los Angeles Clippers 119-105 on Saturday night, giving up 21 fast-break points to Los Angeles and allowing the Clippers to shoot 52.6 percent from the field and make 11 of 24 3-pointers.Right now were not consistent enough, Thibodeau said. We have to build the right habits. Defensively its hard to win when you give up 119 points.Defensive improvement was expected under Thibodeau for a team that has long struggled to stop opponents. The transition is proving to take time. Minnesota has allowed 119 points in two of its past three games. Opponents have scored more than 102 in all but one game. The Timberwolves did get point guard Ricky Rubio back in the lineup on Saturday after he missed five games with a sprained right elbow. Rubio had seven points, six rebounds and six assists in the loss.Im trying to find a rhythm, trying to find how to run the team too, Rubio said. First game back after a couple weeks, just get the rust off.Minnesotas talent has shined at times on the offensive end. The Timberwolves have two players averaging more than 20 points per game in forward Andrew Wiggins (23.8) and center Karl-Anthony Towns (22.1). Guard Zach LaVine was also above the mark before he was held to 15 points on 7 of 15 shooting on Saturday.Wiggins struggled against the Clippers league-best defense on Saturday. He scored 22 points but was constantly harassed and shot just 8 of 24.The Lakers had no trouble shooting Saturday against New Orleans, particularly from Los Angeles guards and bench.Jordan Clarkson scored 23 points and Williams added 21 for the Lakers, who entered the game leading the league with 48.8 points per game from their bench.Me and Lou are going to be real aggressive coming in. Were trying to do a good job of leading this second group, bringing the energy, scoring the ball, pushing the pace, Clarkson told the Associated Press. Coach gave that to us. Thats our role and thats what were going to do.Including starters DeAngelo Russell (22 points) and Nick Young (15), the Lakers backcourt accounted for 81 points on 31-of-51 shooting, including 15 of 25 from 3-point range. We got some great guards -- we got some killers, Russell said. Its up to us to go out there and maintain it and do it every game.Los Angeles rookie Brandon Ingram left Saturdays game with a sprained ankle but told the Associated Press he could have returned if the game was closer.Of course, these are two teams used to integrating high draft picks. Towns was picked No. 1 overall a year ago, one spot ahead of Russell. In 2014, Wiggins was the top pick by Cleveland before being traded to Minnesota. South Carolina suffered its fourth consecutive loss and falls to 13-5 overall and 1-5 in conference play.Texas A&M shredded the South Carolina defense in the opening set, with junior setter Stephanie Aiple directing the Aggie offense to a blistering .652 hitting efficiency. Junior outside hitter Kiara McGee set the tone from the get-go, getting a straight-down kill to start the match and then putting down a South Carolina overpass on the ensuing play. The Aggies held a 4-2 lead when the Gamecocks served long and freshman outside hitter Hollann Hans followed with three consecutive kills during an 8-0 A&M run. Texas A&M continued to pull away, twice reeling off runs of five points while never allowing the Gamecocks to score consecutive points. South Carolina, which hit .000 in the set, had an attack error that put the Aggies at set point, and Texas A&M senior middle blocker Jazzmin Babers ended the frame with a solo block. The Gamecocks six points in the stanza tied the A&M record for fewest points allowed in a non-fifth set, first accomplished in a 25-22, 25-6, 25-18 sweep against South Carolina in the final match of the 2013 regular season and tied earlier this season in a 3-1 victory at LSU.The Aggies held a 3-2 lead in the second set before a McGee kill marked the start of a 9-0 run, giving A&M its largest lead of the stanza, 12-2. South Carolina got within five points at 18-13 following a 3-0 run-equaling its longest scoring streak of the match-but could get no closer. The Aggies held a 20-14 cushion before a Gamecock service error, a kill by Babers, an ace by Texas A&M senior defensive specialist Victoria Arenas and a kill by McGee put the Aggies at set point. The Gamecocks, who were still hitting .000 for the match, got a block on the next play before Babers got a kill to close out the set and put the Aggies up, 2-0, in the match.Texas A&M sophomore middle blocker Kaitlyn Blake, the reigning SEC Player of the Week, and junior opposite hitter Ashlie Reasor had back-to-back kills to begin the third set, and the Aggies never lett up.ddddddddddddEven libero Amy Nettles got a kill in the set, digging a ball that went over the net and fell in for a kill to put the Aggies up, 20-14. Reasor won a joust to put A&M ahead, 21-14, before the teams began to exchange point for point. Senior setter Kaysie Shebeneck, who replaced Aiple with the Aggies up, 19-12, got the match-ending kill.McGee and Hans tied for match-high honors in kills with 11 apiece while hitting .348 and .333, respectively. Aiple had 30 assists as A&M hit a season-high .404 while holding the Gamecocks to a .088 hitting efficiency.Junior defensive specialist Gabby Litwin had a season-high 10 digs, tying Nettles for match-high honors, and sophomore defensive specialist Amy Houser led all players and tied her career high with two aces. Babers and Blake tied for match-high honors with three blocks, giving Babers 490 total blocks for her career and moving her into a tie for third place in the A&M all-time records with former two-time All-American Sherri Brinkman (1983-85).The victory gave Texas A&M head coach Laurie Corbelli her 599th win in her 31-year head coaching career, as well as her 499th victory in her 24th season as head coach of the Aggies. The Aggies will aim to give her a milestone victory and win their sixth consecutive match when they return to Reed Arena on Sunday at 4 p.m. for a highly anticipated match against No. 9 Florida. Texas A&M posted an epic victory against the Gators last year in College Station, coming back from a 0-2 set deficit to win the match 3-2 on Senior Day. It was Floridas first-ever loss in the all-time series against the Aggies, who went on to win their first conference championship. It is the Aggies annual Dig Pink match, and anyone wearing pink to the match can purchase a ticket at the entrance for only $3 and also receive a free pink lemonade. SAPPORO, Japan -- Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu will reappear on the figure skating circuit at the NHK Trophy this week to qualify for the Grand Prix Final.Of the five previous grand prix events this season, Hanyu competed only in Skate Canada, and won silver. He will be concentrating on perfecting his quads -- there are six in his programs. In September in Montreal, the Japanese skater became the first to land a quad loop in competition when he did one in each of his programs. He returns to the NHK Trophy, where he became the first skater last year to surpass a 300-point total.I feel like I could do it again, Hanyu said. But this is a new program, the music is different, the venue is different. Everything is different so I will just focus on executing and doing the best I can.Hanyu turns 22 a day before the GP Final from Dec. 8-11 in Marseille, France. In the womens event, Four Continents champion Satoko Miyahara of Japan and world bronze medalist Anna Pogorilaya of Russia are the favorites.Miyahara was third at Skate Canada and will also be looking to qualify for the GP Final.I wasnt satisfied with my performance at Skate Canada, Miyahara said. So I want to perform well in the short program here and build momentum. Ive been working on my jumps and step sequences.Mirai Nagasu of the United States and world junior medalists Maria Sotskova of Russia and Wakaba Higuchi of Japan are also competing. Trophee de France silver medalist Sotskova and bronze medalist Higuchi have a shot at the Final. Other contenders include Alaine Chartrand of Canada and Elizabet Tursynbaeva of Kazakhstan.Two-time world champions Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford of Canada will be the favorites in the pairs. They are also the two-time defending champions at the NHK Trophy.Olympic and world champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada highlight the ice dance. Ultra Boost Discount .com) - The Chicago Blackhawks aim for their third three-game winning streak of the season when they host the struggling Edmonton Oilers in Sundays battle at the United Center.Zach Terrell and Corey Davis wouldnt be such a dynamic duo unless they knew what its like to be awful.Thats the way Western Michigan coach P.J. Fleck looks at his senior quarterback and top wide receiver. The undefeated and 21st-ranked Broncos, who face Ohio for the Mid-American Conference championship at Detroits Ford Field on Friday, were 1-11 just three years ago. These guys have used their failing as growth, Fleck said. They didnt look at the failing as failures and quit. They were both 1-11. They both understood the pressures they were under to get better. The greatest people and greatest leaders in the world have failed the most. I really believe that.Terrell and Davis have played magnificently during this dream season for Western Michigan, which will likely emerge from the Group of Five and earn a New Years Six bowl berth with a victory. Terrell has completed 71.7 percent of his pass attempts with 30 touchdown passes and just one interception. His favorite target, Davis, has 83 receptions for 1,283 yards and 17 touchdowns.Davis set the FBS career receiving yards record in the Broncos 55-35 win over Toledo on Friday, which clinched the MAC West Division title. Davis enters the title game with 5,068 yards.Theres a lot of meat left on the bone, Terrell said. There are a lot of things to accomplish that weve yet to accomplish. Were going to continue to work hard, both Corey and I, and weve got a lot left to do.The Broncos (12-0 overall, 8-0 conference) havent been to the MAC championship game since 2000, when they were defeated by Marshall for the second straight season.Fleck doesnt want his team to worry how the selection committee views his team.I cant control where we are in the polls, he said. The Broncos are also ranked 13th in the AP Top 25 poll. Were not here to state a case. Were just here to play football. Were going to let our play talk for itself.Speculation is running rampant that Fleck will leave for a bigger program and hes made a point of addressing the rumors with his team.I believe they deserve to know whatts going on, what the truth really is because theyre my children, theyre my kids, he said.dddddddddddd Thats the way I look at it.The Bobcats are also seeking their first MAC championship victory. They were defeated by Northern Illinois, 23-20, in their last trip to Ford Field in 2011 and are 0-3 overall in the title game.Ohio (8-4, 6-2) won a tiebreaker over Miami (Ohio) to capture the East Division. The Bobcats have won four of their last five, including a 9-3 win over Akron on Nov. 22 to secure their berth.Freshman Quinton Maxwell has taken over at quarterback during the second half of the season, completing 55.9 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and four interceptions. Senior quarterback Greg Windham missed the last three games with a leg injury and his status for Fridays game is uncertain.Junior Dorian Brown (794 yards, four TDs) and sophomore Maleek Irons (426 yards, five TDs) head the rushing attack.Veteran coach Frank Solich realizes that few people give his team a chance to win.Theres a circle of guys who think we will win the game and obviously thats our guys, our team and the people within our program, some of our fans obviously and some of their parents and friends. But we are the underdogs and rightfully so, he said. Western Michigan has played at a level where they are deserving of all the accolades that theyre getting. After watching Western Michigan dismantle Toledo, Solich knows his team needs to play a near perfect game to win. What are they, a plus 18 on turnovers? Its a ridiculous number, he said. Were something like a plus five so theres a disparity there. Were going to have to take care of the ball, we cannot give them the ball. We cannot give them great field position time after time and somehow think that were going to get it done. So weve got to get a few turnovers, we have to take great care of the ball, weve got to win the field position battle and go from there. ' ' '

[willST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- A great start to the week got even better for Stewart Cink on Thursday.Three days after his wife, Lisa, received a good report on her Stage 4 breast cancer, she was in the gallery at Sea Island as he posted a career-low 62 to finish one shot behind in the RSM Classic.Huge blessing, Cink said.It showed in his easy smile and the peaceful walk on a gorgeous day in the Golden Isles, a happy day in a year filled with unimaginable trials.Cink, winless since his British Open victory at Turnberry in 2009, stepped away from the PGA Tour in May when his wife was diagnosed with cancer. After nine rounds of chemotherapy, doctors at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston switched her over to what Cink described as a maintenance program.I am just really encouraged by the way shes been able to fight and handle it, Cink said. Shes had definitely a lot of ups and downs and she feels pretty well, and she got a good report Monday -- real good. Shes really like an inspiration for me.Mackenzie Hughes, the Canadian rookie, flirted with a sub-60 round until pars on the final three holes on the Seaside course for a 61 and a one-shot lead over Cink and Jonathan Byrd. All of them were at Seaside in ideal conditions for scoring.Cink was a strong presence, especially with his wife in the gallery. She has only missed one tournament since a sporadic return to golf, usually walking 18 holes. The exception was the St. Jude Classic at Memphis this summer, when she only managed nine holes each round. It was about a million degrees, Cink said. The wig is hot.Cink, with six PGA Tour victories, five Ryder Cup teams and a claret jug from his British Open playoff victory over Tom Watson, was jolted when his wife was diagnosed in the spring. His primary concern was her health, and over time, he worked on his own state of mind.Im just trying to let golf be a piece of my life and not let life be a piece of golf, Cink said. It grew out of our situation with Lisa where I felt like I had a chance to do some things to just kind of turn myself around. The last few years havent been that great for me productivity-wise on the golf course. So I decided to make some changes and felt like if Lisa can fight, I can fight. It started to turn at the end of last season when he tied for 14th in the Wyndham Championship, his best finish in more than a year. He is coming off encouraging performances in Las Vegas and Mexico (he tied for 15th at both tournaments), and then headed to Houston for his wifes visit with doctors. That felt like a victory. She had very limited side effects, which I can only say that shes being looked after by someone bigger than us. So shes responded well, Cink said. Shes still got Stage 4 cancer. The cancer, its like when the horses get out of their yard. Its hard to get them back in, cant get them back in. So shes going to be on maintenance hopefully for a long time.Cink is using his one-time exemption from the top 25 in career money to play this season, though he doesnt know how often he will play.He only knows he wont be at tournaments without his wife.If you see me out here playing, then you can assume that means that shes doing fairly well, at least well enough to travel, he said. Because Im not going anywhere without her.She was in for quite a show on Thursday.Cink poured it on toward the end of his round with four straight birdies, capping it off with a fairway metal to the fringe on the par-5 seventh for a two-putt birdie that put him at 9 under for the round. With the Seaside a par 70, he had a reasonable shot at 59.It did cross my mind, he said. Thats actually the first time Ive ever been that low where I had a chance to shoot that. The only blemish was a three-putt from 45 feet on the ninth hole for his only bogey. It was still a career-best on the PGA Tour by one shot.Hughes actually thought about a 58 when he reached 9 under with four holes to play. Byrd had five birdies in a six-hole stretch late in his round. No one shot better than a 7-under 65 on the Plantation Course, which is where Cink plays on Friday.Tournament host Davis Love III shot even-par 72 on the Plantation.Nike Air Max Plus Tn Ultra Black . -- Lou Brocks shoulder-to-shoulder collision with Bill Freehan during the 1968 World Series and Pete Roses bruising hit on Ray Fosse in the 1970 All-Star game could become relics of baseball history, like the dead-ball era. As Bruno Fornaroli continues his rise though the ranks of the A-Leagues greatest imports, the Uruguayan believes hes cracked the secret to success.Having fun.The free-scoring Melbourne City striker added another two goals to his tally in Thursday nights 2-1 win over Newcastle Jets, taking his tally to six in six A-League games this season. He also became the quickest man to 30 goals in A-League history, after a breakout season last year with 25 goals in 29 games. That tally set a new benchmark for the best striking performance in a single season. His AAMI Park tally is even more extraordinary; 20 in 18 games. It would be hard not to enjoy yourself while racking up such numbers and Fornaroli truly believes its the essential ingredient to building a successful team.I love football and I love to play this sport, he said. But you have to play with joy and I think this is the big secret.I say this to my teammates, we try to enjoy every game. When you play angry, your mind doesnt stay there with the game. Its very important.Theres a bigger reason why the 29-year-old enjoyed Thursday nights match even more; his mum was in town. Its great when your mum is here, he said.I know for my mum there are big nerves whenever she watches me play. She was very happy after the game and its important for me. Its extra motivation when she is here. The family man also said his trademark gesture after scoring a goal was a tribute to his nearest and dearest. This is for my wife. Every time I score I do this. She looks at me every time. She supports me every time. And also my little girl, he said. Its difficult when you dont stay close to all your family. She supports me every time. Shane Hnidy joins Brian Munz for the broadcast on TSN 1290 Radio at 7pm ct.Collating a list of the top 20 moments in Indian sport is both an exercise in celebration and an invitation to argument. How can achievements by individuals be rated against those of teams? How can athletes be ranked across generations, competitions, genders? What marks greatness - results alone or impact of personality?Do the vast distances of history unfairly blur the past when it is regarded against the high-definition sharpness of modern sporting achievement?ESPN India decided to go down this potentially tricky road as a means of saluting the richness, variety and breadth - often overlooked - of Indias sporting history. When the idea first came into being, we on the sites staff drew up our own personal lists of top 20 Indian sporting moments and then had a lengthy debate. We were each surprised by what the others among us remembered as significant, and there were passionately argued reasons for each nomination. The initial (very) longlist went way beyond 75, and before we made up out a shortlist for a jury, we believed we had Indian sport covered. We then reached out to our jury - competitors and achievers, pioneers across disciplines and thinkers about sport at large, as well as respected journalists across a range of sports. They informed us about what and whom we had left out, arguing equally forcefully over events and people.Which of the Olympic hockey golds should feature on a shortlist: the first ever? The first by India as an independent country? Or the one where they beat Pakistan in 1964? Can you leave out India getting to the 1966 Davis Cup Challenge Round against Australia, the strongest Davis Cup team in the events history? If WWE fans heard the stories about the Great Gama, they would gawp. How could anyone forget the peerless Sriram Singh, whose 800m record still stands? Or the charismatic, cool snooker player OB Agarwal, who broke the stranglehold the Anglo-centric nations had on the World Amateur Snooker Championship in 1984 and was claimed by cancer before he was 40?Finally all the jury rankings were in and each sporting event given points based on where it featured on a jury members ranking system: 20 points for each No. 1 ranking, 19 for a No. 2, and so on. Our top 20 were arrived at by adding up these points. We discovered that while Indians might be considered sluggish recorders of their athletic history, our individual memories endure beyond the erosion that time inflicts and the fatigue that cynicism brings. It is why the power of KD Jadhavs Olympic medal in 1952 lives through the ages.No matter who has finished in the top 20 or outside it, this compilation of the Top 20 Moments in Indian Sport has been revelatory, inspiring and humbling to us.One of our jurors, golfer Jeev Milkha Singh, was competing in an event in Mauritius when we tracked him down for his list. Jeev toldd us he found it tough to draw one up, saying, They are each of them champions, winners in their own fields; to rank them by numbers, that feels unfair - its just not fair.dddddddddddd We appreciated the sentiment - and began debating all over again.Whether you agree or disagree with the rankings, we hope you enjoy reading the stories and remember some of Indias most astonishing athletes and the history they created.THE JURYTom Alter, actor, sports enthusiast and writer. ail to produce numbers on the ground, th

[wWhen a season starts to slip away, as it has for many teams around the league right now, it breaks your soul as a player. The energy level in the building dips, the attention to detail falls off, the game prep starts to feel like homework. You start looking toward the offseason, just hoping to make it through the rest of the games healthy.I experienced it firsthand back in 2003 as a member of Steve Spurriers Washington Redskins. After a 3-1 start that included a win over Tom Brady and the Patriots, we were talking big at the beginning of October: playoffs, Super Bowl, Pro Bowls. Hey, everyone wanted in on this thing. Jump on the train. But success in the NFL can be so fleeting. We lost the next four games and never recovered. From 3-1 to 5-11. Brutal.Theres a reason coach Hue Jackson got visibly emotional while trying to describe how the Browns still havent won a game this season. Remember, these dudes on bad football teams -- coaches, players, executives -- theyre all human. And when the wheels start to loosen on a season and eventually fall off, theres nowhere to hide.I still remember a Sunday night game down in Miami when we blew a big lead. It was our sixth loss in seven games. The winning touchdown? The Dolphins caught us in a blitz, and I was left to make the tackle on Ricky Williams. But that didnt happen. Nope. Instead, I took a stiff-arm to the face as Williams walked in for the score. Good-bye.I still remember traveling to Chicago in Week 16, with Spurrier promising us an extended Victory Monday if we won that game -- three days off heading into the final week of the season. He threw a carrot out there for us, doing anything to buy a win. Didnt work. Paul Edinger kicked a game-winning field goal with five seconds left to beat us.I still remember Week 17, when we got shredded in our final home game by the Eagles. 31-7. In my opinion, Andy Reid called off the dogs in that one. He took it easy on us. Philly couldve scored 40 or maybe even 50 if they wanted to.That Eagles team went to the NFC Championship Game. Our squad? We went home.Yeah, we had some injuries. But so did everyone else. Thats life in the league. Talent? There was enough in our locker room to win.Coaching? I loved the defensive staff. And while Spurriers stock as an NFL coach never recovered, Im not going to blame him. No way. Sure, I didnt agree with some of the structure of his program or the style of practices we had late in the season, but Spurrier didnt get stiff-armed by Ricky or smoked by Keyshawn Johnson on a post route in a blowout loss to the Bucs. Nope. That was me.A lot of us had an idea that Spurrier wouldnt be back the next season once the calendar flipped to December. And a lot of us were right. Owner Dan Snyder replaced Spurrier with Joe Gibbs in the offseason. And I would say uncertainty surrounding the head coach had an impact on the locker room, practice and our overall game prep as we finished out the year.Things just started to drag a bit. The pace of practice slowed down, the film study slipped and the game plans got lighter. We became that team sleepwalking through the daily routine. It was now work at the facility. That excitement of getting a fresh game plan? Thats for the playoff teams, the contenders. Ive experienced that excitement. And its great. But we didnt have that anymore. It was gone. Just like the energy in the building. That stuff quickly evaporated over the last month and a half of the season. Now we were just football zombies throughout the week. Clock in and clock out. Take some notes, and head home.Game day? Yeah, we still played hard because you have to in order to survive an NFL Sunday. You go out there soft, and youll probably end up on the cart with an injury. This game is too fast and too physical to walk around on that field like you dont care. Plus, we all knew we were basically auditioning for next season and the next head coach in Washington. Better put something good on tape, right?I often say that NFL seasons are fragile. And when the team breaks -- or shatters into a thousand little pieces like it did in 2003 -- you dont recover as a player. You just try to survive.ESPN.com NFL analyst Matt Bowen played seven seasons as a defensive back in the NFL.Wholesale NBA Jerseys Authentic . As the crowd erupted, Davis knocked the ball off the glass and back into his hands. With 1:14 to go in overtime, Davis sixth block also became his 17th rebound. That, along with his 32 points -- which tied a career high -- proved too much for Denver to overcome, and the Pelicans held on for their third straight victory, 111-107 on Sunday night. NBA Jerseys China . -- On the field, it was business as usual for Jameis Winston and No. http://www.chinawholesalecheapjerseysnfl.com/ . Tevez, who has had conflicts with coaches in the past, has not been called up since Sabella was named coach in 2011. Argentina boasts Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Aguero, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Angel Di Maria. Cheap Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys . Brandon Morrow allowed five runs on six hits over three innings. He struck out two, walked one and hit a batter. Edwin Encarnacion had a two-out, bases loaded two-RBI double in the third inning. Wholesale Jerseys Free Shipping .B. -- The Baie-Comeau Drakkar took over sole possession of first place atop the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Thursday with their sixth straight win.Our NFL Insiders predict Week 11s biggest upsets. Plus: Should the Dallas Cowboys defense give them pause? Which contender has the most alarming flaw? And could the Green Bay Packers still make the playoffs?Whats your biggest upset for Week 11?Matt Bowen, NFL writer:?After watching the Bengals struggle to run the football and protect quarterback Andy Dalton in Monday nights loss to the Giants, Im picking the Buffalo Bills to get the upset win in Cincinnati. Rex Ryans defense can get home to the quarterback, and the Bills will use their coverage schemes to rotate help over the ttop of A.dddddddddddd. Green. If the Bengals get beat up front again and fail to produce numbers on the ground, the Bills can grab the win.
