road matchup against the Panthers. Their already-slim playoff hopes are on the line this week http://www.tampabaybuccaneersteamonline.com/vinny-curry-jersey , as dropping to 3-5 would put them in a hole that might be too deep to climb out of. Tampa Bay hits the road against a good Carolina team with some significant injuries and a quarterback change. The deck is stacked against the Bucs, that’s for sure. With all of that said, some players are looking to inch closer to some franchise records. Let’s take a look at who those players are in this week’s record book watch.Career ReceptionsMike Evans is still second in receptions at 355, needing 76 more to pass James Wilder (430) for the franchise record.Career Passing YardsHead coach Dirk Koetter has benched Jameis Winston for this week’s game after a four-interception performance last week in Cincinnati. Ryan Fitzpatrick will get the start for the Bucs. But if Winston gets in the game for whatever reason, he could work his way up in some categories. Right now, he is fourth in career passing yards with 12,817. He needs 153 more to pass Trent Dilfer (12,969) for third. Career Passing TouchdownsWinston is third in touchdown passes with 75. He needs three more to pass Vinny Testaverde (77) for second.Career CompletionsWith 1,035 completions, Winston is fifth all-time. He needs six more to pass Brad Johnson (1,040) for fourth.Career Passing AttemptsWinston has 1,692 passing attempts in his career, which places him fifth in Bucs history. He needs 199 more to pass Doug Williams (1,890) for fourth. Career Rushing TouchdownsWinston is 14th all-time in rushing touchdowns with nine. He needs one more to tie Michael Pittman for 13th.Peyton Barber picked up his first rushing touchdown of the season last week http://www.tampabaybuccaneersteamonline.com/lavonte-david-jersey , tying him for 20th all-time in the category with five. One more would pull him into a five-way tie for 16th. Jacquizz Rodgers is still tied for 29th with three rushing scores. One more ties him for 26th.Career TacklesLavonte David is fourth in team history with 590 tackles. He is 91 away from passing Hardy Nickerson (680) for third.Gerald McCoy is questionable for Sunday’s game. If he suits up, he has a shot to move up in tackles. He has 205 right now, which has him at 24th. Two more would move him past Simeon Rice (206) for 23rd.Career SacksMcCoy is firmly in third all-time with 50 sacks. He is 20 away from passing Simeon Rice for second.Career SafetiesLavonte David is tied for first in franchise history with one safety. Another one would give him sole possession of the team record.Career InterceptionsDavid is tied for 17th with 10 interceptions. One more would tie him with two other players for 15th.Career Passes DefendedDavid and Brent Grimes are tied with Simeon Rice for seventh all-time at 37 passes defended. David and Grimes are both six away from passing John Lynch (42). Career Fumble Recoveries David and Ronde Barber currently share the franchise record for fumble recoveries with 12. One more would give David the record all by himself.Career Forced FumblesDavid has 18 forced fumbles, which places him third. He needs two more to pass Simeon Rice for second. Career Games PlayedIf Gerald McCoy is able to play, it will be his 115th game with Tampa Bay. That ties him for 18th-most in franchise history with Karl “The Truth” Williams.Sunday will be Demar Dotson’s 108th game as a Buc, which ties him for 27th-most in team history with Andrew Economos.Lavonte David is set for his 99th game as a Buc, which moves him into 41st in franchise history.Quick Observations From Training Camp: 7/29/18 It was another hot one today, but everyone at One Buc Place was given some relief once training camp moved into the Bucs’ new indoor practice facility. If you have yet to see it or go there - you’re missing out.Sunday’s practice was the first full-padded practice of training camp. There was plenty going on, so let’s go ahead and dive right in.1. Vita Vea goes down. After a string of injuries hit NFL teams on Saturday, the feeling around One Buc Place was that of not only luck, but good fortunate. Then today happened. The Bucs’ first-round pick Vita Vea went down with what looked like a severe injury after he was carted off the field. Right now, reports are that it was a strained calf - which would be the equivalent of dodging about a dozen bullets - so, that’s good news. Stay tuned for updates as they come in. Backup tackle Leonard Wester was also carted off after it looked as if he rolled his ankle after the Bucs moved indoors. 2. Peyton Barber isn’t satisfied with last season.Barber granted Bucs Nation an exclusive interview after practice which we will have up later, but in the interview he discusses how he is trying to get better at every facet of his game. This was on full display today as Barber looked quicker than ever thanks to his weight loss during the season. He didn’t trade the speed in for power though http://www.tampabaybuccaneersteamonline.com/kwon-alexander-jersey , as he consistently bounced off would-be tacklers and finished off run after run with determination and force. Even though rookie Ronald Jones is lurking, don’t expect Barber to back down anytime soon. 3. Defensive Line coach Brenston Buckner is still brining the intensity.Good Lord, Buckner is one intense man. Always pushing his players toward their best effort, while letting them know when they’ve screwed up, he was everywhere today. There was one play in particular where defensive end William Gholston was blown up on a run play and Buckner quickly got into Gholston’s ear. The front seven is where intensity breeds and Buckner is the catalyst in this department. It’s going to be next to impossible for this pass rush to remain stagnant.4. Justin Watson will make this roster. Even though he may not be the most heralded draft pick, Watson could end up becoming one of the steals of the 2017 draft. He looks the part, coming in at 6-foot-3, 209-pounds, and his lanky, yet sturdy frame allows him to make tough catches and spread the defense out. Dirk Koetter stated during his post-game presser that today was Watson’s “best day of practice” while also noting that he has “a fight on his hands” considering the Bucs’ depth at receiver. Watson has already turned heads during rookie minicamps and it looks as if the progression will continue on into the preseason. Expect him to make the Bucs roster this season. 5. The offense had a better day. Both Jameis Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick made some great throws today. Winston launched possibly the best deep ball he’s thrown in years when he hooked up with Desean Jackson in the Bucs’ new indoor practice facility. Fitzpatrick made a nice throw to tight end Cameron Brate later on and Brate made a tremendous catch while falling to the ground. It’s good to see both quarterbacks making plays. That now marks at least three deep balls that we’ve seen the Bucs complete in as many days. That vertical element may finally come to Tampa Bay in 2018. And here is the deep throw from Winston to Jackson, via pewterreport.com:
